Analysis
After 2 weeks we have determined that our hypothesis was wrong, the tooth soaked in regular Coke showed little or no visible damage, while the tooth soaked in Coke Zero was fully eroded. One possible explanation is that the acids in Coke Zero had a stronger effect on the tooth enamel during the experiment. Overall, the results shows that acidity may have a greater effect on enamel erosion than sugar alone. From this experiment, we learned that sugar is not the only factor that can damage teeth and that drink with fairly high acidity can be more harmful.
